Evaluation and Negotiation [back]
A good product at a reasonable price with excellent service is always a reasonable starting point. However, with similar solutions being put forward, Solinique uses a formal scoring process to its tender evaluation to narrow down the field of potential suppliers.
Initially, the scoring is a simple table of requirements versus the tenderer's identified resolution. The greater requirements resolved the greater the weighting for that organization. Naturally, there are certain requirements that carry greater weight than others, but overall, this is deemed a fair way of identifying those that will be invited to further discussion.
Cost evaluation is usually considered a separate consideration as at this stage. ALL responses should be within the identified budget of the invitation to tender. Solinique does, however, carry out diligence in this area to identify the total cost of ownership as often, different suppliers break down costing into different categories. The requirement and costing evaluation usually identifies 2-3 potential candidates to forward to the discussion and negotiation stage.
Demonstration of the service / product, value-added services, case studies / references and company background all play their part in deciding who will be awarded the contract, and these will be investigated in more depth at this stage.
Finally, negotiation will ultimately decide the supplier who is to receive the contract. Solinique believes that all parties should mutually benefit for there to be a long term customer / supplier partnership. To this end, we don't look to squeeze every last penny from the supplier, but neither do we agree with paying above market pricing. A combination of a better Service Level Agreement and higher product quality is more often sought than just a good price alone.
Awarding a contract to the successful supplier and debriefing unsuccessful tenderers completes this element of our services.
